Ricardo Zapata is a Miami, FL born artist and educator currently living and working in Philadelphia, PA. He is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Art & Art History at Drexel University. He has also taught art courses at the Tyler School of Art, Pennsylvania State University in Abington, University of Pennsylvania, Arcadia University, and Moore College of Art and Design. He is a member of Pink Noise Projects, a collectively-run project space in Philadelphia. He was the 2009-2010 ArtsEdge Program resident through the University of Pennsylvania. During this residency, he collaborated creatively with a writer and presented a lecture at the Kelley Writer's House on Cross Pollination and collaboration. His awards include the D'Anna Summer Study Abroad Award to travel and create work in Greece. His work has been exhibited in the United States and abroad and featured in the Washington Post. Ricardo Zapata attended the New World School of the Arts High School in Miami, FL. He received a BFA in painting with minor in Art History from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. He received his MFA in painting and certificate in Graphic Design from PennDesign, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.
